Step-by-step explanation of the "no quarantine" plan
Phuket Sandbox is a Travel Program for travelers from countries considered by the Thai Government to be low / medium risk areas and from potential tourist destinations.
The Phuket Sandbox Extension 7 + 7 program allows travelers to go to destinations after staying in Phuket for 7 days and completing a second PCR test:
- Surat Thani Province - Koh Samui, Koh Phangan or Koh Tao
- Krabi Province - Koh Phi-Phi, Koh Ngai and Railay Beach
- Phang Nga Province - Khao-Lak, Koh Yao-Noi OR Koh Yao-Yai.
At the moment, the Thai government allows travelers who have been in Russia or Uzbekistan for at least 21 days and have passed all stages of vaccination with a vaccine approved by WHO or the Thai Ministry of Health to arrive in Phuket without going through quarantine.
* Sputnik-V vaccine will be applicable to the Sandbox program from September 1, 2021.
Who is eligible for the Phuket Sandbox program?
Please check yourself against the qualification category below:
- Persons who have stayed in Russia and Uzbekistan for at least 21 days in a row.
- Persons vaccinated against Covid-19 with a vaccine approved by the World Health Organization or the Thai Ministry of Health at least 14 days before departure. They must have an authorized Certificate of Vaccination approved by the government agency of the respective country.
*A certificate of recovery or laboratory test results for antibodies will not be accepted.
**The list of vaccines approved by the WHO and the Ministry of Health of Thailand is currently as follows:
ASTRA ZENECA / COVISHIELD;
CoronaVac/ Sinovac;
Janssen (Johnson&Johnson)
MODERNA;
Vero Cell, Inactivate COVILO (SINOPHARM);
COMIRNATY VACCINE (PFIZER);
Sputnik V (from 1st September 2021).
- Children under 18 years of age traveling with their parents are admitted without proof of vaccination.
I am eligible to enter Thailand under the Phuket Sandbox Program. What are the next steps?
Step №1. Do you need a visa? If so, please go to the visa application process first.
Step №2. I have a valid visa, or I have an ordinary Russian passport, and I would like to stay in Thailand under a visa-free regime for no more than 30 days. What's next?
Preparation of the following required documents (MUST BE):
- Medical Insurance covering all medical treatment costs, including COVID-19, in the amount of at least US $ 100,000 for the duration of your stay in Thailand. It can also be purchased from the Thai General Insurance Association
- Confirmed hotel reservation that complies with the SHA + (SHABA Certificate) standard for at least 14 days, if the traveler does not provide tickets for departure from Phuket (to another country) earlier than 14 days.

- Proof of prepayment for the required RT-PCR tests. You can sign up for a PCR smear directly on the website www.thailandpsas.com or contact the hotel to claim it.
Step №3. Apply for an Entry Permit (COE) on the website https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/, filling out the required information and uploading documents. The review will need to allow at least 10 days prior to the scheduled departure as the Thai Authority must first verify the validity and authenticity of the vaccine certificate.
I got SOE. Ready to travel!
Please prepare the following documents to submit to the airline at the check-in counter and to the relevant authorities in Thailand. Without these documents, the Airlines are not entitled to check you in for the flight.:
- Valid passport and visa
- Permit to Entry (COE)
- Medical insurance covering all medical treatment costs, including COVID-19, in the amount of at least US $ 100,000 for the entire stay in Thailand.
- Confirmation of the prepayment made by the Hotel "SHA +"
- Certificate of advance payment of required RT-PCR tests
- Medical Certificate confirming that laboratory results of RT-PCR tests did not detect COVID-19 (negative result), issued no more than 72 hours before departure from each transit point (in English, or in Russian from notarized English translation).
Arrived in Phuket! What's next?
- You need to download and install the specified tracking application.
- You need to take the first RT-PCR test you booked and paid for at the airport.
- You will have to proceed from the Airport to the SHA + Hotel by transport arranged by the hotel in advance and wait for the results of the RT-PCR test in the hotel room.
- The result is NEGATIVE! After that, you can go out and enjoy Phuket. In order to travel to other provinces of Thailand, you will need to spend at least 14 days in Phuket.
What is the Sandbox Extension 7 + 7 Program? Can we travel to other destinations after spending 7 days in Phuket?
After travelers have spent 7 days in Phuket, those who have passed the second PCR test from Covid-19 can choose to travel to one of the following destinations (only in the "SHA +" Hotel category).
Travelers must take the Third PCR Test at the second destination where you will be staying.
- Surat Thani Province - Koh Samui, Koh Phangan or Koh Tao - travel ONLY by plane Phuket-Samui
- Krabi Province - Koh Phi-Phi, Koh Ngai and Railay Beach - travel ONLY by boat from Ao Po ( Ao Por)
- Phang-Nga Province - Khao-Lak - travel ONLY by road.
- Phang-Nga Province - Koh Yao-Noi OR Koh Yao-Yai - travel ONLY by boat from Ao Por, Ao Por Grand Marina or Bang Rong Piers.
